Emeritus Professor Lance Fung

“I am a faculty member at Murdoch University from 2003 and I received my Emeritus Professor appointment in October 2015. I graduated with a B.Sc. Degree with First Class Honours in Maritime Studies and a Master of Engineering Degree in System Test Technology, from the University of Wales, UK. I received my PhD degree from the University of Western Australia with a thesis on the Application of Artificial Intelligence to Electrical Power System Engineering in 1993. I taught at the Singapore Polytechnic (1982-1988) and Curtin University of Technology (1989-2003). In September 2017, I was awarded an Honorary PhD Degree in Information Technology by Walailak University, Thailand, in recognition of my contributions towards the development and advancement of their research and postgraduate programs. In addition to my role as Coordinator of Education Activities in IEEE Region 10, I chair the IEEE New Initiatives Committee (NIC), while serving as member in the IEEE Strategy Alignment Committee (SAC), Conference Quality Committee (CQC), Technical Program Integrity Committee (TPIC), Conferences Finance Committee (CFC), Section Education Outreach Committee (SEOC) and as a Liaison on the Humanitarian Activities Committee (HAC).
